New System Of Local Govt In Punjab Will Help Solve Problems: Law Minister

LAHORE– Raja Basharat, Provincial Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Social Welfare, has said that the new system of local government is different from all the old systems which will help in solving problems at the grassroots level according to the aspirations of the people.

He was addressing the inaugural function of an online training program for newly recruited officers in Punjab Local Government Department at Civil Secretariat here today as a special guest.
Punjab Local Bodies Secretary Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi gave a detailed briefing to the provincial minister on departmental matters while Special Secretary Local Bodies Babar Aman Babar highlighted the purpose and usefulness of the online training program. Congratulating the new officers, the Law Minister said that it should be your mission to fulfill the aspirations of the people attached to the local body system.  It will be a prelude.
He hoped that the officers would serve the people on merit as they are recruiting on merit. On the occasion, Secretary Local Government Punjab Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi said that recruitment in various cadres including finance, infrastructure, service, regulation should be done.  Municipal officers have been included in the training which will further highlight their professionalism. He said that Punjab Local Bodies Department has recruited these 402 officers through local service commission and posted them in local governments. In view of Corona, it has been decided to conduct pre-service training of new officers online instead of at the local government academy. Babar Aman Babar said that the decision of online training is proving to be very beneficial.  The cost was Rs. 26 million while the cost of this online training is only Rs. 170,000.
