LAHORE– Punjab Minister for Health Dr Yasmeen Rahsid has directed to formulate new central policy for disposing medical waste of private and public hospital of the province.
She was presiding over a high level meeting at Specialized & Healthcare & Medical Education Department, her today. Secretary Specialized & Healthcare & Medical Education Department Momin Agha, Special Secretary Mian Shakeel, Managing Director Lahore Waste Management Company Ajmal Bhatti, MS Punjab Institute of Cardiology Dr. Ameer, MS Jinnah Hospital Dr. Iftikhar, MS Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Fayyaz Butt, MS General hospital Dr. Mehmood Salahudin, MS Mayo Hospital Tahir Khalil and MSs form other hospitals were also present on this occasion.
The MD LWMC gave the detail briefing regarding different procedure to dispose of the hospital waste.
Dr Yasmeen Rashid directed that hospital waste will not be sold in the market and directed the private hospitals to dispose of their medical waste according to the law after the issuance of central policy and directed the Punjab health care commission to supervise it.
She said that complete and up dated data of hospital waste of every government hospital should be collected adding that MS are wholly responsible for the safe disposal of their medical waste. Action will be initiated about the person responsible for selling hospital waste in the market, she added.— PRESS HANDOUT
