Minister Hashim Bakht Addresses Public Gathering, Takes Part in Multiple Activities in RY Khan


LAHORE– Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht spent busiest day in Rahim Yar Khan on the second day of his stay there on Wednesday.
The minister started the day by attending a public gathering in Rahim Yar Khan Tehsil where he discussed the issues of local citizens and welfare and development initiatives of the provincial government at the tehsil and district level.
Addressing the residents of the area, the Punjab Finance Minister announced the construction of 12 km metal carpet road from Iqbalabad to Chowk Sareli and said that the construction of link roads would lead to increase in economic activities at district and tehsil level. The business will easily create employment opportunities for local investors.
Later, at the invitation of District Police Officer Rahim Yar Khan, the Provincial Minister also attended the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed Traffic Police Office at Sadiqabad Police Lines where he distributed 9 reconditioned police mobiles, motorcycles and investigative checks worth Rs. 4.3 million among the police personnel.
The provincial minister laid a wreath at the memorial and inaugurated the office of DSP Traffic Police.
Addressing the function , he said that Rahim Yar Khan is a complex region in terms of its location, with Kacha area on one side, border of desert and India on the other side and security personnel due to confluence of two provinces on the third side. The more resources are needed than in other districts. He said that 400 new vehicles are being provided to Punjab Police in the coming days in which Rahim Yar Khan has been given significant representation. Expressing satisfaction over the performance of the District Police Office, the Provincial Minister assured full cooperation from the Finance Department for the transformation of the traditional police station culture.
The provincial minister said that protection of life and property of citizens and provision of justice was the most important duty of the state. The bilateral relationship of trust and respect between the institutions and the people is the key to success. If district police officers render their services impartially, a positive change in the culture of police stations is certain. The minister also inaugurated bus service and sports complex at Farid University Rahim Yar Khan.
The provincial minister also encouraged students and faculty members to plant trees in the university. While presiding over the meeting at Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Rahim Yar Khan, the provincial minister directed the administration to resolve the legitimate demands of the sacked employees of Sheikh Zayed Hospital and Medical College immediately. Members of Parliament should personally oversee ongoing projects in their constituencies. Work with local authorities to provide property rights to slums and improve municipal services. A briefing should be taken from the City Silence Authority to improve the condition of Muslim and minority cemeteries in the district. The provincial minister said that the Punjab government was taking serious steps to set up agriculture universities in the agricultural districts. Rahim Yar Khan has a well-organized road infrastructure and a well-organized water supply and drainage program. More than Rs 10 billion is being invested in the health and education sectors. Deputy Commissioner Rahim Yar Khan Ali Shehzad informed the meeting that work is underway on 1146 projects in the district under development program which will cost more than Rs 30 billion. Other participants in the meeting included all District Officers and Members of Parliament. The provincial minister also inspected Tehsil Hospital Sadiqabad in Sadiqabad. Accepting the responsibility of upgrading the cardiac unit in the hospital at the request of the management, the provincial minister directed the deputy commissioner to estimate the resources required for the improvement of the cardiac unit and inform the health department. He said that the establishment of cardiac units for immediate medical aid to heart patients in tehsil level hospitals is a matter of urgency.— HANDOUT
