Director General LDA Muhammad Usman Mouzzam visited the location on Sunday and reviewed different works being executed by his department in this regard.
LAHORE– On the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar work for overall improvement of Thokar Niaz Baig intersection, especially with regard to traffic management and physical ambience of the area is being carried out by the Lahore Development Authority (LDA).
He directed for strictly adhering to the deadlines and concluding all types of activities for beautification and uplifting of Thokar Niaz Baig junction within a fortnight.
In order to give a fresh look to the the 1 kilometre long 3 lines dual carriageway Thokar fly over, the director general asked for painting for painting the entire length of the flyover. He further asked for arranging ornamental lights and doing harticulture works in the area for giving it a green look.
Chief Engineer LDA Mazhar Hussain Khan informed at this occasion that all the temporary encroachments underneath the flyover had been removed. Work was underway for setting up green areas along both sides of the canal and land was being levelled for this purpose. Landscaping and horticulture work was also underway, he added.
He further told that walkways along both sides of canal road for pedestrians were being constructed and protective fences will also be installed throughout the length of these foot paths.
He informed that substantial patchwork of Canal Road from Thokar Niaz Baig Chowk to EME Society had been done while the remaining work will be completed within one week.— PRESS RELEASE
