Lahore Police Issue Security Plan for Upcoming Pak-Sri Lanka T-20 Series

LAHORE– Lahore Police (Operations wing)have issued security plan for the forthcoming Pak-Sri Lanka T-20 cricket series to be held in Lahore from 5 to 9 October at the Qadafi Stadium Lahore.

According to the security plan, as many 03 SSPs, 13 SPs, 42 DSPs, 131 Inspectors, 718 Upper subordinates will be on duty during these three matches of the series to ensure foolproof security of the players as well as citizens visiting cricket stadium to enjoy the matches. 

According to the plan, more than 12 thousands Police officers and officials will perform security duties. Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations Wing) Lahore Ashfaq Khan said that Lahore Police is all set to provide foolproof security to the visiting Sri Lankan team as well as Pakistani cricket players for the T-20 cricket series matches.

Ashfaq Khan said that citizens will only be allowed to enter the stadium after complete checking and will not be allowed to bring with them any prohibited items. He said that Lahore Police has earlier provided foolproof security to all the national and international cricket events being held in Lahore.

“We will also ensure complete implementation on SOPs fixed regarding security to conduct the matches of T-20 series in peaceful atmosphere.”

Ashfaq Khan said that round the clock monitoring of the residential places of teams, matches and movements in and round the cricket stadium will be ensured through the CCTV cameras of Punjab Safe Cities Authority.

He said that Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit teams will continue their effective patrolling around the specific areas of the city. Snipers will be deputed on the roof tops to keep an eye on all the movements during these matches. Aerial monitoring will be ensured through helicopter provided in this regard.

The citizens coming to enjoy matches at cricket stadium will only be allowed entrance after complete body search and checking through three layers security mechanism. Parking places would be reserved at different points of the city and citizens will be brought to the stadium through bus shuttle service.

Search and sweep operations are being conducted on daily basis in the city particularly around the cricket stadium and designated areas.

Ashfaq Khan said that Lahore Police has always played pivotal role to restore International Cricket in Pakistan by providing maximum security to these events. He has directed the concerned officers to remain in completed coordination with related departments for security arrangements. He stressed upon the need to adopt more effective strategy to provide foolproof security during these matches.— PRESS HANDOUT
