Lahore Police Fully Secure Hazrat Hussian (RA) Chehlum, Data Ganj Baskh Urs

LAHORE– Security of the provincial capital remained beefed up on Tuesday, in wake of the mourning processions and majalis on the occasion of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam e Hussain as well as last day celebrations of 978th URS of famous saint Hazrat Ali Hajveri Data Gunj Bakhash(RA).

Security of the city remained tight the whole day as Lahore Police ensured comprehensive traffic and security arrangements for the protection of the mourners, devotees and citizens as well as smooth flow of traffic.

More than ten thousands police personnel including SsP, DSsP, Inspectors and other subordinates were deputed to provide foolproof security to the mourners of the programs of the Chehlum and devotees visiting shrine of Hazrat Data sahib.

Capital City Police Officer Lahore Additional IG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar frequently visited the route of the main mourning procession( Shabih e Taazia) as well as shrine of Hazrat Ali Hajvery Gunj Bakh’sh (R.A) and surrounding areas to review the security arrangements.

DIG Operations Cap(retired) Sohail Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner Lahore Umer Sher Chatta, CTO Muntazir Mehdi, SSP Operations Waqar Shoaib Qurwshi, SP City Rizwan Tariq and other senior officers also accompanied him. DIG Operations Cap(R) Sohail Chaudhary briefed the CCPO Lahore regarding the necessary measures taken by Lahore Police to provide foolproof security to the participants of both sacred programs.

Ghulam Mahmood Dogar met with the community leaders and license holders of main mourning procession as well as the administration of the shrine of Hazrat Data Sahib and inquired from them about the standard of security provided by police.

He asked them to advise the citizens participating in the mourning procession of the Chehlum and the devotees visiting shrine of Data Darbar to wear mask and adopt precautionary measures in wake of variant wave of Corona virus.

The administration of the mourning procession and shrine as well as the citizens expressed their satisfaction over the security arrangements made by Lahore police. CCPO Lahore directed the deputed police officers and officials at different points on the route of main mourning procession and the shrine of Data sahib to remain highly alert at their duty points including Entry gates keeping an vigilant eye on any suspicious activity.

He further directed the Dolphin Squad and PRU teams to ensure effective patrolling around the route of mourning procession, Imam bargahs as well as the shrine of Hazrat Ali Hajveri(RA).

Snipers were deputed at the roof tops of surrounding buildings to keep an eye on all the movements around the programs to avoid any untoward situation. More than 600 CCTV cameras had been installed on all the routes of main processions by Punjab Safe Cities Authority to ensure non-stop monitoring. District Administration also ensured all the arrangements regarding installation of monitoring cameras, roads patchwork, drainage and proper lighting on the routes of processions.

The participants of Chehlum programs were only be allowed to enter the mourning procession after complete checking and body search by Lahore Police officials and volunteers by metal detectors and Walkthrough Gates. Lady Police officers were also deputed to check the female participants of the events in ladies search cabins.

The entrances of all the streets falling under the routes of main procession had been closed through barriers and bob wires. Snipers were installed on high roofs to monitor all the movements of the processions and any possible suspects.
