Lahore Police Chief Checks Covid SOPs, Security Arrangements at Imam Bargahs and Procession Routes
LAHORE– Commander Lahore Police Additional IG Ghulam Mahmood Police paid surprise visit to different areas of the city on late Tuesday and early on Wednesday to check security arrangements and implementation of Corona SOPs at Imam bargahs and routes of processions.
He visited Imam bargahs Qasar e Batool Shadman, Imam bargah Kali Kothi Iqbal Town, Imam bargah Hali Road Gulberg.
The CCPO also met with the organizers and license holders of majalis and processions as well as community leaders during his visit and coordinated with them regarding the police arrangements and any possible issues.
DIG Operations Sajid Kiani, divisional SsP, Circle officers and related police office officers were also present. CCPO Lahore during his meeting with the organizers and license holders of majalis and processions requested to promote brotherhood, tolerance as well as interfaith harmony and convince the participants of the Muharram programs to wear masks and implement on Corona SOPs including maintaining social distance in wake of impending dangers of Delta variant wave of Corona virus.
CCPO Lahore briefed the deputed police officers and officials at entry and vantage points to remain highly alert and do not let anyone enter the majalis and processions without complete checking. He further directed relevant officrs to ensure complete monitoring of the majalis and mourning processions via Drone and installed CCTV cameras.
The community leaders and organizers of Muharram programs expressed their complete satisfaction over the security arrangements made by Lahore Police.
Comprehensive security arrangements by Lahore Police have been ensured as total number of 3900 majalis will be held and 460 mourning processions brought out during the first ten days of Muharram ul Harram, CCPO Lahore informed.
A comprehensive security, traffic and evacuation plan has already been finalized for Youm e Aashur with main deployment of more than ten thousands police officers and jawans for security purposes. Ghulam Mahmood Dogar further said vehicles parking as well as a substitute traffic plan has also been finalized for the facility of participants and citizens on Youm e Aashur.
Sniffer dogs will be used to check the routes of main processions of Youm e Aashur, he added. Police will use LET telephone sets to remain in touch and coordination with each other on Youm e Aashur as mobile phone service will remain suspended for fixed time in specifi areas of the city, CCPO said.
There will be a complete ban on pillion riding on Youm e Aashur as well to ensure safety and security of the participants and citizens of Muharram programs. . Metal detectors, walk through gates and other modern gadgets have been used by police officials for the security and checking purpose during majalis and processions.
Special check posts have also been made at different areas of the city whereas police officers and officials have been checking persons and vehicles thoroughly at Entry and Exit points with e police checking applications to avoid any untoward situation.
The participants of all the Muharram programs will be checked under three tiers security system at entry points of the processions and majalis through a foolproof checking mechanism.
All the activities of Muharram ul Harram including majalis and processions have been continuously monitored through CCTV cameras of Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) and additional cameras of City District Government, he concluded.— PRESS RELEASE
