LAHORE– Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Senator Sirajul Haq has expressed regret over the non-serious attitude of the rulers to tackle the menace of cornonavirus pandemic in the country.

On one side, he said while addressing press conference along with leaders of YDA at Mansoora on Tuesday, the prime minister was in a habit of issuing confused statements about the spread of virus while on the other side the ministers were declaring the masses ignorant.

“Central and Punjab governments have this year decreased the allocations for the health sector as compared to the previous year. The act of the government is beyond understanding,” lamented the JI chief.

Hospitals were running out of capacity and doctors were not bring provided the compulsory personal protective equipments, he said, asking the rulers to at least now adopt responsible attitude and address the issues of the doctors and paramedics on immediate basis.

He regretted the medicines used for treatment of Cronavirus were disappearing from the market, hospitals were without ventilators and masses were left on the mercy of the circumstances. It was irony that numbers of patients were decreasing worldwide while the infection was spreading rapidly in Pakistan, he said, adding the rulers had wasted three months of the nation and failed to develop any policy to curb the pandemic.

To a question, he said he contacted the leaders of the different political parties to develop a unanimous agenda on the budget.

The delegation led by Dr Shoaib Niazi and Dr Shakeel briefed Senator Siraj about the prevailing situation of the pandemic and thanked the JI for raising voice in support of their demands. JI Information Secretary Qaisar Sharif, JI Lahore Chapter Emir Zikrullah Mujahid and representatives of Pakistan Islamic Medical Association were also present in the meeting.

Meanwhile, Senator Siraj made a telephonic contact with the PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif to inquire after his health.

Both the leaders discussed the prevailing situation and agreed to develop a unanimous plan on the budget. Shehbaz thanked the JI leader for wishing him good health and early recovery.

Liaqat Baloch stresses national strategy to fight corona

Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Emir Liaqat Baloch has called for developing a national strategy to fight against the Cronavirus issue.

In a statement issued from Mansoora on Tuesday, he said central government, provinces and state institutions should join hands to bring the country out of present crisis.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, he said, the prime minister had been issuing non-serious statements, creating confusion among the masses. The government, he added, had not taken on board the professionals and failed to provide sufficient resources to hospitals to fight against the Covid-19.

Baloch rejected the Punjab budget as traditional and people’s enemy, saying the PTI government proved itself agent of the status quo as it continued the policies of their predecessors PML-N, PPP and Musharraf eras.

He expressed regret over the situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir, saying the fascist Modi regime had broken all the record of barbarism in the held valley. He said Pakistan should develop a national policy on Kashmir.
