LAHORE MIRROR — Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that India carried out another “false-flag operation” on September 29.
Addressing a press conference in Rawalpindi, the DG ISPR said that on the night of September 29, an Indian Army corps posted a statement on social media claiming that it had conducted an operation in an area of occupied Kashmir.
According to the Indian Army’s reported claim, a “terrorist” was killed during the operation, while the body of an alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba militant was also recovered. The militant was identified as Muhammad Asif, alias Hashim Musa.
The DG ISPR said India subsequently claimed that Muhammad Asif was a Havildar in the Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group (SSG), and later described the alleged slain militant, Musa alias Asif, as a serving soldier.
He said Indian authorities claimed that the deceased militant had been identified as Muhammad Asif and was a Pakistani national. An Indian news agency also reportedly published details, including an alleged service number, and claimed that Asif had carried out attacks in various areas.
During the press conference, the DG ISPR presented SSG Havildar Muhammad Asif before the media.
Speaking to reporters, Muhammad Asif said he was a resident of Pindi Gheb in Attock district. He said he received phone calls from friends the previous day informing him that Indian forces had allegedly killed him.
“I learned through social media that India had declared me martyred,” Asif said, adding that he began receiving calls after the fabricated reports about his death emerged.
He said he was surprised by the reports, as he was at home and could not understand how Indian forces could have “martyred” him while he was alive.
Asif said he had retired from the SSG in 2023 after serving his country and added that he remained ready to serve the nation in the future.
He strongly rejected what he described as India’s baseless and fabricated allegations, saying that he currently works for a security company and lives in Rawalpindi.
“India has levelled a false allegation against my country. I am alive, I live in Rawalpindi, and I am standing before you,” he said.
