LAHORE MIRROR (Monitoring Desk)– The Punjab Health Department and the Lahore district administration have recommended sealing seven major localities of Lahore for at least two weeks due to the spike in the coronavirus infections.
These neighbourhoods are Gulshan-e-Ravi, Gulberg, DHA, Garden Town, Model Town, Faisal Town and the inner city.
If sealed, the police and Rangers will patrol these areas and be deployed at all entry and exit routes to make sure no resident heads out unnecessarily.
A Punjab cabinet committee on the coronavirus, and the home department will give the final go-ahead on the matter.
These neighbourhoods have reported 3,613 coronavirus cases. A total of 96,223 houses are located there and 233,000 families or 1.69 million people live there.
Fifty localities in Lahore are already under a lockdown since June 17. The city has been declared a coronavirus epicenter by Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid.
