TEHRAN (LAHORE MIRROR) — Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has arrived in Tehran with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for talks focused on regional peace and stability.
Munir met Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni on Monday, with further meetings with senior Iranian officials expected during the visit.
According to ISPR, the visit is part of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to push for a peaceful, lasting and comprehensive resolution to the Middle East conflict.
Pakistan has been playing a mediation role between Iran and the United States, relaying messages between the two sides amid escalating tensions, sanctions threats and disruption in the Strait of Hormuz.
The visit comes as Washington prepares tougher sanctions on Iran, while Tehran has warned of a military response.
Islamabad has previously brokered ceasefire efforts between the two countries, but earlier agreements have struggled to hold as fighting and regional tensions intensified.
The Tehran visit signals a fresh push by Pakistan to prevent the Iran-US confrontation from spiralling into a wider regional war.
