LAHORE– Lahore Police in continuation of its crackdown against the drug peddlers around the educational institutions in the provincial capital have so far arrested as many 356 accused persons during last 11 days.
According to details, in compliance with the orders of Inspector General of Police Punjab Captain® Arif Nawaz Khan, DIG Operations Lahore Ashfaq Ahmad Khan has directed all divisional SPs to speed up crackdown against narcotics sellers outside the educational institutions.
Ashfaq Khan himself is monitoring the actions taken against drug peddlers by Lahore Police.
Accordingly, City Division Police registered 70, Cantt Division 70, Civil Lines Division 29, Sadar Division 98, Iqbal Town Division 35 where as Model Town Division Police registered 41 FIRs during their crackdown.
Police also recovered more than 103kg Charas, 62grm ICE, 505grm heroin, 580grm opium, more than 09kg Bhang and 2408 liters of liquor from the arrested criminals.
DIG Operations Lahore Ashfaq Khan said that Lahore Police has been implementing on zero tolerance policy against the criminals particularly drug peddlers who try to make our youth a victim of narcotics.
He said that youth is future of the nation and Lahore Police will not allow anyone to damage the future of our youth and nation.
“Lahore Police have also arranged anti drugs awareness campaign and lectures are being delivered in different educational institutions of the city as well to worn the students against fatal affects of narcotics.”
“Lahore Police will deal with these anti social elements with iron hands,” Khan said, adding citizens should also cooperate fully with Lahore Police to eliminate the menace of narcotics from society.— PRESS HANDOUT
