LAHORE MIRROR — Mehnaz, wife of renowned Pakistani film actor Moammar Rana, has obtained a khula (judicial dissolution of marriage) through a Lahore family court.
Family Court Judge Zahid Bashir issued a decree granting khula in Mehnaz’s favour following arguments presented by her counsel, Advocate Khadija Siddiqui.
In her petition, Mehnaz alleged that Moammar Rana subjected her to physical abuse and verbal harassment after consuming alcohol. She further claimed that on several occasions, he verbally abused her while intoxicated in front of their daughters, causing them emotional distress.
According to the petitioner, the couple married on October 24, 1998, and have two daughters. She also alleged that Moammar Rana failed to contribute towards household expenses.
Mehnaz maintained that her family had made repeated efforts to improve his behaviour, but he refused to seek treatment. She said that after nearly 28 years of marriage, she could no longer continue living under such circumstances.
After hearing the arguments, the family court granted a khula decree in Mehnaz’s favour, formally dissolving the marriage.
The allegations against the actor were presented as part of Mehnaz’s petition.
