A complaint has been filed with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) against the individuals allegedly behind Alishba Noor, a social media personality who recently gained widespread attention for appearing in videos as a female lawyer.
The character went viral on TikTok after videos emerged showing her seemingly accompanying Pakistani YouTuber Rajab Butt to court. The account reportedly gained hundreds of thousands of followers within a short period before being suspended by the platform.
However, questions later emerged about the authenticity of the character, with reports suggesting that Alishba Noor was created using artificial intelligence (AI) rather than being a real legal professional.
A separate account subsequently appeared on TikTok, sharing several videos featuring the character.
Complaint raises concerns over legal profession
According to the complaint, a lawyer has approached the NCCIA, alleging that the individuals responsible for the account used AI to create a fictional female character and portrayed her as a practising lawyer.
The complainant argued that the content misused the professional attire associated with the legal community and could undermine the dignity and reputation of the profession, particularly that of female lawyers.
The application stated that a lawyer’s uniform represents professional identity, responsibility and respect, and should not be used to mislead the public or attract social media engagement through fictional representations.
It also raised concerns over the portrayal of an AI-generated character as an actual legal professional without clearly disclosing its artificial nature.
NCCIA urged to identify those behind the account
The complainant has requested the cybercrime agency to investigate the videos and social media accounts associated with Alishba Noor.
The application calls for the identification of those involved in creating, operating and distributing the content. It further seeks legal action if investigators establish that any laws have been violated.
The complaint also asks authorities to examine whether the use of a fictional character in lawyers’ attire has affected the reputation and standing of the legal profession.
The allegations are yet to be independently established, and no official findings against the individuals behind the account have been made public.
