LAHORE– Commissioner Lahore Division Asif Bilal Lodhi on Friday initiated tree plantation by planting Jamun tree in Canal Heritage Park on both sides of Lahore Branch Canal.
He said one thousand Jamun trees, two-year-old each, are being planted on canal from Dharampura to Harbanspura.
The Commissioner said Jamun tree is the natural tree of Lahore Canal and that would impart healthy environment and increase the beauty of land of city.
Chairman PHA Syed Yasir Gilani, DG PHA Ghulam Fareed and Attia Noon, Qudsia Rahim from Lahore Binalae Foundation (LBF) were also graced the occasion.
Commissioner Lahore Asif Bilal Lodhi said tree plantation in Lahore was being done according to different specific models and design, keeping in view the sight and soul of the land.
He said under the clean and green drive of government indigenous trees as well as tree cover of the city is being restored.
Asif Bilal said collaborative efforts of Commissioner Office, PHA and LBF for tree plantation in Lahore would achieve the target of healthy environment and lost tree cover of the city.
He said that mature plants were being planted in the monsoon season because their survival and growth would be maximum and he added that those trees would be geo tagged to be monitor.–PRESS HANDOUT
