LAHORE MIRROR — An Azerbaijani woman, who allegedly fell victim to a gang rape in Lahore, refused to return to her country after boarding a flight for Azerbaijan, airport sources said.
According to the sources, Diana reached the airport late at night to return to Azerbaijan. She completed the check-in and immigration procedures and boarded the aircraft. However, shortly afterwards, she refused to leave and disembarked.
Diana insisted that she did not want to return to Azerbaijan and asked to be sent to a third country instead.
Airport sources said Diana had remained at the airport since the night, while the Azerbaijani Embassy had also been informed of the situation.
Meanwhile, three more suspects were arrested in the alleged gang-rape case.
DIG Investigation Zeeshan Raza said at a press conference in Lahore that three suspects, including a woman, had been arrested in connection with the alleged gang rape of the Azerbaijani national.
He said the fourth suspect, who was absconding, was being traced and would be arrested soon. The arrested suspects had confessed to the offence, he claimed.
The victim’s and suspects’ swabs had been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis, the DIG said.
