LAHORE– Inspector General of Punjab Police Captain (retired) Arif Nawaz Khan has said the Safe City Project is a masterwork of latest technology as latest surveillance cameras are proving very helpful in controlling the street crime and improve traffic management and situation of law and order.
He said to protect the lives and properties of citizens the monitoring should be further improved at the entry and exit points of city along with important roads and places.
The IG also directed to start an awareness campaign regarding road safety, unnecessary blockage of roads and traffic management.
He expressed those views while issuing directions to officers at a high level meeting held at Safe City IC3 on Tuesday.
Managing Director Safe City Authority Ali Amir Malik, CCPO Lahore B A Nasir, DIG Operations Lahore Waqas Nazir, Chief Admin Officer Kamran Khan, Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Captain (retired) Liaqat Ali Malik, Chief Operating Officer Akbar Nasir Khan, SSP Investigation Lahore Zeeshan Asghar along with other senior officers attended the meeting.
During meeting, MD Safe City Ali Amir Malik briefed the IGP about the working of IC3 that camera installed on roads has effectively controlled traffic mismanagement and accidents by e-challans and also played a pivotal role in identification of the culprits involved in high profile crimes including terrorism.
The IG Punjab further directed that to improve the police performance patrolling forces, Dolphin, PERU, and officials deputed at pickets should also be monitored and in emergency monitoring officers should update field officers about every detail.
On this occasion IG Punjab also viewed the video feed from cameras installed at important points.
Khan directed the officers that to avoid the unnecessary road pickets and check points and to arrest the culprits involved in road snatching, theft, and dacoity patrolling should be further improved with the help of Safe City Cameras.
He further said that it is the responsibility of all the police officers and officials that while performing their official duties convenience of citizens should be specially focused.
The IGP was also updated on the latest development in different under completion Safe City Project in other cities of Punjab.

Addl IG Operations Punjab Inam Ghani said due to timely and efficient actions of Punjab Police, 86% decline in incidents of terrorism has been recorded as compared to previous years whereas ban on all activities of defunct organizations especially their charity collection are being dealt with iron hand.
He further said Punjab Police has been upgraded with the help of dolphin force, SPU and other specialized units and more than 300,000 citizens have benefited more than 14 facilities under one roof from police khidmat Marakiz in all districts of the province.
Those views were expressed when answering to queries of officers of 25th senior management course from national institute of management Peshawar at central police office today.
DIG Operations Punjab Captain retired Atta Muhammad was present on this occasion.
Twenty-three officers of senior management course paid a study visit of central police office and were briefed by Addl IG Operations Punjab Inam Ghani about working of Punjab Police.
He told to the participants that, for the protection of lives and wealth of people, Punjab Police is following parameters of smart and community policing and 8787 complaint management service has been established for quick relief to public complaints.
The SP Complaints have also been appointed in all districts in this regard. He further added that, the individuals listed in fourth schedule are being monitored under nation action plan regularly.

Punjab forensic science laboratory is providing assistance to other province’s police for investigation of heinous crimes.
Under strict internal accountability system, process punishment for corrupt, dishonest and power abusers is going on. New modules of investigation, modern policing and public dealing have been included in police training syllabus.
