LAHORE MIRROR — The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has uncovered an alleged international cyber fraud operation targeting foreign nationals, particularly US citizens, after raiding an illegal call centre in Karachi and arresting 11 suspects, including its owner.
According to officials, the NCCIA’s Karachi Zone conducted a covert operation at an illegally operated call centre on the first floor of Zafar Centre on Shahrah-e-Faisal.
The facility was allegedly being used for organised international cyber fraud, financial scams and the unlawful acquisition of sensitive banking information belonging to foreign nationals, particularly Americans.
During the raid, the agency arrested 11 suspects, including call centre owner Yasser Gilgiti. Those detained reportedly included agents, super agents, closers and floor managers involved in the operation.
Officials said the premises were being used by an organised network operating the illegal call centre to carry out fraudulent activities targeting foreign victims.
Digital devices and other electronic equipment allegedly used in the illegal activities were also seized during the operation.
The agency has taken action against the suspected network as part of its efforts to curb cybercrime and financial fraud.
