ISLAMABAD: Apple has appointed technology industry professional Salman Dar as its Head of Government Affairs for Pakistan, according to information about his new role.
Dar will oversee Apple’s engagement with government institutions, regulators, policymakers and other stakeholders in the country.
He brings experience from Pakistan’s technology and IT sector to the position. He previously co-founded IT company ITROOS and served as its chief executive, where he worked on technology and business development.
Dar has also been associated with the Pakistan IT Industry Association (P@SHA), serving on its Central Executive Committee and participating in various policy and governance committees.
He is also a member of the Industry Academia Board at Air University, where he contributes to collaboration between the technology industry and academic institutions.
His appointment comes as major technology companies continue to engage with Pakistani authorities over digital-economy policies, regulation, investment and the broader IT sector.
Dar holds an MSc in Computer Science from Quaid-i-Azam University and an MBA in IT Management from the International Islamic University, Islamabad.
In his new role, he will manage Apple’s government affairs activities in Pakistan and engage with relevant public-sector and industry stakeholders.
The appointment, however, does not by itself confirm plans for an Apple retail store, manufacturing facility or other major expansion in Pakistan.
