LAHORE MIRROR — The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has declined to play the Men’s Asian Champions Trophy 2026 in India, formally requesting that the tournament or all of Pakistan’s matches be shifted to a neutral venue.
PHF President Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani said the decision had been taken in view of the current sensitive bilateral situation and security concerns between Pakistan and India.
He said the move was aimed at ensuring a safe, dignified and conducive environment for Pakistan’s players and officials.
Wani stressed that Pakistan remained fully committed to the Asian Champions Trophy and the promotion of hockey worldwide. He said the national team was ready to play against India and all other FIH member nations, while remaining committed to keeping sport separate from politics.
He expressed hope that the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) would positively consider Pakistan’s proposal for a neutral venue and ensure the country’s uninterrupted and full participation in the tournament.
The tournament is scheduled to feature Pakistan, India, China, Japan, Malaysia and South Korea. The Asian Champions Trophy is scheduled to be held from October 27 to November 5 in Jalandhar and Mohali, India.
