LAHORE MIRROR — The University of Lahore (UOL)’s backing of domestic cricket has been welcomed as an important step towards reviving grassroots talent and creating new opportunities for aspiring cricketers across Pakistan.
Supporters of the initiative said young players such as Razaullah Mashwani had often been forced to struggle simply to remain in the game because of financial constraints and a lack of sponsors at the domestic level.
With UOL becoming the main sponsor, school, college and university cricket could once again emerge as key platforms for identifying and nurturing Pakistan’s next generation of stars.
Institutions once played a central role in talent scouting, providing young cricketers with opportunities to develop their skills and progress to higher levels of the game. The renewed focus on institutional cricket is therefore being seen as a welcome revival of that tradition.
The partnership has been described as the kind of investment needed to strengthen Pakistan’s domestic cricket structure while giving talented youngsters greater opportunities to pursue the sport.
For many aspiring cricketers, such support could provide not only financial relief but also a pathway towards fulfilling their potential and representing Pakistan at the highest level.
