LAHORE MIRROR — National cricketers Imam-ul-Haq and Muhammad Rizwan appeared before the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) at its Lahore office after being summoned in connection with an inquiry into matters related to Pakistan’s recent tour of England.
According to sources, both cricketers requested additional time to submit their written responses to the agency. They are expected to provide their statements as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Sources further said that Imam and Rizwan handed over their mobile phones to the NCCIA, which would be unlocked and examined as part of the investigation.
The two players are reportedly being questioned over alleged dressing-room leaks and other matters linked to the England tour. However, further details about the nature and scope of the inquiry have not been disclosed.
The development comes after media reports emerged regarding alleged disciplinary and off-field issues involving members of Pakistan’s Test squad during the England tour. The names of Imam and Rizwan were reportedly mentioned in connection with alleged off-field matters.
Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a statement issued on Monday that it was internally reviewing reports appearing in the media and examining the matter in accordance with its prescribed rules and procedures.
The PCB said the views of all relevant individuals, along with other aspects of the matter, would be given due consideration during the inquiry.
The board added that the process was being conducted under its regulations and that all relevant individuals would be considered appropriately as part of the proceedings.
