Karachi court acquits Natasha Danish in drug case linked to 2024 Karsaz accident
KARACHI — A Karachi court on Friday acquitted Natasha Danish in a drug case linked to the August 2024 Karsaz Road accident that killed two people.
Judicial Magistrate (East) ruled that the prosecution failed to prove the charges against her. Natasha had faced a case under Section 11 of the Prohibition (Enforcement of Hadd) Order 1979 for allegedly driving under the influence of methamphetamine, commonly known as ice or crystal meth.
On August 19, 2024, a speeding Toyota Land Cruiser driven by Natasha struck three motorcycles and another car on Karsaz Road. The crash killed 60-year-old Imran Arif and his 22-year-old daughter Amna. Three other people were injured.
Police arrested Natasha at the scene and booked her on murder charges. Authorities later registered a separate drug case after medical reports claimed she was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time of the accident.
In October 2024, a sessions court acquitted Natasha in the murder case after the victims’ family reached a compromise without any blood money.
Her lawyer, Fawad Ali Khichi, told the media that chemical examinations and blood tests found no traces of methamphetamine. He alleged that police had tampered with the samples and that the investigating officer had hidden the blood test report.
Natasha had earlier received bail in the drug case from the Sindh High Court. A judicial magistrate had previously rejected her request for acquittal in May 2025.
The Friday verdict clears her of the remaining drug charges stemming from the Karsaz accident.
