The CPPA said Rs77.19 billion worth of electricity was generated from LNG, which accounted for 10.78 per cent of total generation. Furnace oil contributed 1.42 per cent, with the cost of generation standing at Rs50.07 per unit.
According to the CPPA’s application, electricity worth Rs10.77 billion was generated from furnace oil in July.
Hydropower accounted for 39.81 per cent of total generation, while local coal contributed 10.91 per cent and imported coal 14.38 per cent. Nuclear sources accounted for 10.10 per cent of electricity generation, with a fuel cost of Rs3.02 per unit.
The application also stated that electricity was generated from diesel during July. Some 31 million units were produced from diesel at a cost of Rs54.47 per unit.
Nepra said a hearing on the CPPA’s request would be held on 27 August. If approved, the proposed adjustment would impose an additional burden of around Rs41 billion, including GST, on electricity consumers.
