Pakistan has set a strict condition for playing the remaining matches of the Asia Cup and has made it clear that if match referee Andy Pycroft is not removed, the national team will not play any more matches in the Asia Cup.
Pakistan has formally informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) about the match referee.
Sources have stated that Pakistan has officially decided that until the match referee is removed, Pakistan will not play the remaining matches in the Asia Cup.
Chairman of PCB and Chairman of the Asian Cricket Council, Mohsin Naqvi, wrote on the social media platform ‘X’ that PCB has lodged a complaint with the ICC.
In his tweet, Mohsin Naqvi said that PCB has informed the ICC that the match referee has violated the ICC’s code of conduct and the laws of MCC.
The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board further said that PCB has demanded that the match referee be immediately removed from the Asia Cup.
Sources have stated that it is likely that the Asian Cricket Council will also impose fines on the Indian team.
It should be noted that after defeating Pakistan in the Asia Cup yesterday, the Indian team violated the spirit of sportsmanship by not shaking hands with Pakistani players.
According to the spokesperson of the Pakistan team, at the toss as well, the match referee had requested the captains not to shake hands.
Later, Pakistani captain Salman Ali Agha also did not attend the closing ceremony in protest against the Indian behavior.
Additionally, Indian captain Surya kumar Yadav brought politics into the game, dedicating the victory against Pakistan to the Pahalgam incident.
In the post-match presentation, Surya kumar Yadav, disregarding the rules of cricket, said: “I dedicate today’s win to the Pahalgam incident; this is a gift from our side to the Indian Army against Pakistan.”
