LAHORE– Lahore Police has chalked out a comprehensive security plan on the eve of Eid al-Azha to maintain peace and ensure safety of the citizens.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (operations wing) Lahore Ashfaq Khan presided over a high level meeting in this regard at his office here Saturday.
SSP Operations Lahore Ismail ur Rehman Kharak, SP VVIP Security, all divisional SPs, DSP legal and other related officers attended the meeting.
Giving details of the security plan, Ashfaq Khan informed that more than five thousand policemen alongwith officers and officials will perform duty on coming Chand Raat and Eid ul Adha. As many as 06 SPs, 32 DSPs, 84 Inspectors will be on duty on this Eid.
He informed that there were as many as 4533 masajid in the city which were categorized according to their sensitivity. There are 278 masajid of category “A”, 832 masajid of category “B” and 3423 masajid of category “C” which will be provided security for Eid prayer.
Eid prayers will be performed on 193 open areas of the city as well which will also be provided complete security. Strict monitoring of all these programs places will be ensured.
Police Jawans of Special Security Unit (SSU), Anti Riot Force (ARF), Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit will be highly alert on their points of postings and ensure complete checking of citizens at masajid and other related places.
Dolphin Squad and PRU teams will ensure effective patrolling around these religious places. The citizens will be provided three layer safety at masajid and religious places.
DIG Operations Lahore Ashfaq Khan further said that search operations, sweep checking, geofencing, biometric verification and all other preventive measures will be adopted to restrain from and untoward situation.
Metal detectors and walk through gates along with CCTV cameras will be used for checking and monitoring purposes.
Snipers will be deputed on roofs of building to keep an eye on suspects or any suspicious activity strict action will be taken against persons involved in Aerial Firing, One Wheeling and in hooliganism on Eid ul Adha and Independence Day (August 14th).
Surveillance has been started of the persons with past record of one wheeling the help of data base updated by Lahore Police and surety bonds are taken from the parents of persons involved in one wheeling. All the vehicles, motor bikes and persons will be thoroughly checked at Exit and Entrance points of the city.
Preventive measures have been adopted against anti social elements and their data has been updated to stop such culprits to disturb peace of the city.
DIG Operations Lahore Ashfaq Khan hoped that citizens will play a positive role and provide full support to Lahore Police to ensure law and order in the city during Eid and Independence Day festivities.— PRESS RELEASE
