CTD Hunts Down Four Alleged TTP Terrorists In Multan
Suspects planning to attack political leaders and disrupt elections
MULTAN (Lahore Mirror)- The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab claims to have arrested four alleged terrorists belonging to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and recovered from them explosives and weapons.
According to a spokesman, an intelligence based operation (IBO) was conducted in Multan that led to the arrests on Tuesday.
The suspects Abdul Islam, Muhammad Liaquat, Wajid Ullah and Muhammad Ahmed were captured near Multan bypass.
Initial investigation revealed that the aim of these terrorists was to target the political leaders in Multan and to launch terrorist attack during 2018 elections.
On Tuesday a credible source information provided to the CTD officials helped a team reached the Multan bypass and got dozens of intelligence officers deployed. The officials dug out the hideout of the suspects to reach the said place. The suspects were taken into custody and five grenades, arms, maps, literature was recovered from the suspect.
A case has been registered with the CTD Police Station Multan and interrogation is under way.
The information released by the CTD Punjab Headquarters shows that in the last three weeks, the CTD Punjab disrupted four terrorism plans in Lahore, Rawalipindi, Sahiwal and Faisalabad. As many as 16 threat alerts have been received in the current month alone and hundreds o activists and facilitators are under strict vigil.
The raids are being conducted on regular basis on the directive of the provincial police officer for defeating plans of terrorists and for safe conducting of July 25 polls in Punjab. The CTD has achieved big successes by defeating recent plots o TTP and other outfits. The IGP has tasked the CTD Punjab to make Punjab a safer place for citizens.
