08 persons died in 832 road traffic mishaps

LAHORE: A total of 832 road traffic crashes were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) across the province here on Thursday.
According to details given in handout, some eight people were killed and 548 serious injured were shifted to various hospitals for medical care.
However, some 391 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after provision of first aid by Emergency Medical Teams.
According to the data, 418 drivers, 16 underage drivers, 114 pedestrians and 415 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes. The statistics show that 230 RTCs were reported in Lahore Control Room, which affected 230 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 82 in Faisalabad with 98 victims and Multan at third position with 64 RTCs and 70 victims.
The details further show that total 947 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 750 males & 197 females, while age group of the victims show that 153 were under 17 year of age, 518 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 276 victims were reported above 40 years of age. According to the data, 656 motorbikes, 115 auto rickshaws, 78 motorcars, 31 vans, 15 passenger buses, 29 trucks and 90 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
